Marijuana Business Valuations: Still Mostly an Art, not a Science

For many marijuana business owners, return on investment is based more on its exit value than on its net profits. This is particularly true for minorityshareholders not involved in the business’s day to day operations; their goal is to build up the business as much as possible so as to maximize its sale value. They Said It On Marijuana, Quotable Saturday, Part XV

This week’s quote comes from Morgan Freeman, and it is so simple and so dead-bang obvious that it verges on boring. But sometimes, it bears repeating the incredibly obvious, especially when said by someone really famous. Why not just legalize it and tax it like we do liquor? Good question….

They Said It On Marijuana, Quotable Saturday, Part XIV

Because we are always calling for marijuana to be examined on scientific grounds, we are always happy to see scientists endorse it. Dr. Oz, a cardiothoracic surgeon and professor at Columbia University, recently declared his shift on marijuana: I grew up like most of my generation believing that marijuana was something Satan was throwing at Americans, a communist

Even the FBI seems ready to re-think its policy of prioritizing marijuana eradication over hiring good people. A Wall Street Journal article entitled, FBI Grappling With Hiring Policy Concerning Marijuana notes how “Congress has authorized the FBI to add 2,000 personnel to its rolls this year, and many of those new recruits will be assigned to tackle cybercrimes,

This is our fourth post in our ongoing series of Saturday posts featuring great quotes regarding cannabis, mostly from public figures. This one is from astronomer Carl Sagan, the author of more than 600 scientific papers. Apparently, Sagan was very frustrated (as our we) with how science was playing no part in the banning of marijuana back in his day:

At Canna Law, we can never get enough of the pot puns and jokes. Thursday evening's Colbert Report was flush with them, as it featured several segments on marijuana. Colbert noted the Colorado (or, as he calls it, "Potsylvania") Department of Revenue's announcement this week that it took in more than $2 million in tax revenues in January on recreational pot sales. Forbes reported that the combined tax revenues from recreational and medical marijuana sales of $3.5 million is 1% of the total annual budgets for the states of Delaware, South Dakota, Montana, and West Virginia. This is the second post in our ongoing series of Saturday posts featuring great quotes regarding cannabis, mostly from public figures. This one is from televangelist and prepetual nutcase Pat Robertson, the point of which is not to show that even a broken clock is accurate twice a day (once if digital) but to arm our readers with a quote that they can use with a particular crowd. This comes from a 2012 New York Times interview:
