- Technical legal ability
- Professional conduct

- Commercial astuteness
- Diligence
- Commitment
Harris Sliwoski was one of the first law firms in the country to provide corporate, transactional, and compliance legal services to the cannabis industry, starting in 2010, representing newly formed medical cannabis businesses in Washington State. Since then, HS has grown its Cannabis Law practice to an industry-leading position, representing investors, lenders, banks, credit unions, ancillary goods and services businesses, multi-state operators, grow companies, distributors, dispensaries, processors, and manufacturers. We were also one of the first law firms to represent hemp and CBD companies and we find ourselves once again on the cutting edge, representing psychedelics companies.
Chambers and Partners described us as “a highly focused team with a reputation as a center of thought leadership on the changing regulations governing the cannabis industry. ” It also noted how we have “a network of offices in the USA and abroad, with an especially strong reputation for its West Coast adult and medical use offering” and said that we have great lawyers who tend to lead on a lot of issues.” Lastly, they noted that we have the “go-to industry blog that is insightful and knowledgeable.”
“We are honored to have been recognized again by Chambers, which incorporates client feedback into its ranking methodology,” says Vince Sliwoski. “Our Cannabis Law practice has grown exponentially since 2010, but our commitment to our clients has remained the same. We’ve always had the same overriding goal with each or our clients, big or small: helping them build durable legal and corporate frameworks for long-term growth and success.
“We committed to the cannabis industry early on, and beyond advising individual businesses, our cannabis attorneys are committed to fortifying, defending, and building credibility for the industry as a whole, not only in the United States, but globally,” says Dan Harris, who heads up the firm’s international law practice group. “Our lawyers – who have on-the-ground experience in more than two dozen countries – understand international laws, legal systems, regulatory environments and the broader global trade context, and are well known for vetting, structuring and closing complex cross-border transactions involving cannabis and various other industries.”
