Ethan Minkin is a seasoned attorney with extensive experience in complex litigation and healthcare law. Over his career, Ethan has successfully litigated numerous high-profile cases, including serving as lead trial counsel in two landmark trials involving the water rights of two U.S. Native American tribes. These trials, which lasted four and six months respectively, addressed novel issues concerning water rights in the United States, impacting the tribes’ water rights for the next century.

Ethan also founded the Phoenix bankruptcy practice for an AmLaw 100 law firm and has represented clients in bankruptcy proceedings across the country. He has been admitted pro hac vice in various jurisdictions, including the Southern District of New York, the Central District of Florida, the Central and Southern Districts of California, and the District of Nevada. His clientele has included some of the world’s largest banks, financial institutions, and special servicers, as well as regional and local banks.

Experienced Litigator and Healthcare Attorney

In addition to his litigation expertise, Ethan is also a skilled healthcare attorney. Before returning to private practice in 2018, Ethan served as CEO and de facto General Counsel for a Phoenix-based biotech company. His in-house experience also includes roles with one of the world’s largest financial institutions and a national Medicaid HMO acquired by Aetna. More recently, he acted as outside general counsel for a multistate Medicare Advantage Organization. Ethan began his legal career at the largest law firm in Phoenix and went on to become a partner at an AmLaw 100 firm.

Ethan holds a degree in Political Science from Washington University in St. Louis, a master’s degree in public health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law, where he graduated cum laude.

Recognized as a Southwest Super Lawyer, Ethan is also committed to giving back to the community, having volunteered for the Special Olympics of Arizona and the Southwest Autism Research Center. In his free time, he enjoys sports and spending time with his wife, children, friends, and two dogs.

Ethan Minkin, an attorney at firm Harris Sliwoski who advises a handful of marijuana-focused companies about cannabis regulatory issues, said he hasn’t personally seen the state levy fines or revoke a license.

“As strange as it may seem, I’ve never gotten down to that level where the state turns around and imposes sanctions,” Minkin said. “In my experience, they’ve been willing to work with the licensees.”
