Sonia leads our Spain dispute resolution team, and she also helps our clients with their European dispute resolution matters.
Sonia specializes in Spain civil and commercial dispute matters, particularly when a foreign component is involved and in applying conventions and rules of private international law. She has extensive experience in distribution, concession, and agency matters, as well as in the enforcement of foreign judgments and out-of-court settlements in Spain. She also offers substantial expertise in contentious proceedings, specifically related to arbitration and litigation concerning leases, including retail buildings.

Sonia is an Academic Correspondent of the Spanish Royal Academy of Case-Law and Legislation, an honorary member of the Association Internationale des Jeunes Avocats (AIJA) since August 2011, and a member of the American Bar Association (ABA). She served as the Chairwoman of the Madrid Bar Association between 2012 and 2017 and has held positions as First Vice President of Spain’s General Council for Legal Practice, President of the Interprofessional Association of the Region of Madrid, and Director of Fundación Abogacía. Recently, she was appointed an expert arbitrator of the Latin American Arbitration Centre (CIAR).
A graduate in Law from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Sonia also holds a Master’s in Community Law from Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE).
