Harris Sliwoski seeks an experienced export controls and economic sanctions attorney to join its office in Washington, Oregon, California, Utah, New York, Arizona, or remotely.
Ideal candidates will have prior experience working with the EAR, ITAR, FTR, and OFAC regulations. This experience should include advising U.S. and non-U.S. companies on commodity jurisdiction, ECCN classification, prohibition and sanction screening, licensing, PGA requirement, antiboycott, Schedule B classification, voluntary self-disclosure, investigation, audit, enforcement, CTPAT, compliance program development, and export-related M&A due diligence issues. Candidates with primary experience in the export controls/economic sanctions sub-practice space and secondary experience working on import compliance/enforcement and/or trade remedy matters are also encouraged to apply.
The ideal candidate will have strong academic credentials, effective interpersonal skills, sound judgment, excellent oral and written communication capabilities, good organization/project management skills, and a robust work ethic. We hire attorneys who are or want to become thought leaders and enjoy client development through speaking at trade conferences, presenting webinars, writing, and actively building their network of clients. The ability to self-supervise is key in this position, and experience handling a variety of matters at any given time is necessary. Foreign language skills are a plus.
